Single-tooth Crowns
In some cases, a tooth has structural damage that is too severe to be fixed by a new filling. Whether it is a large filling or a fracture, both of these concerns can be remedied with a dental crown.
A crown can be described as a tooth-shaped ‘cap’ which is placed over the tooth to maintain its strength, structure, and give it a more pleasing appearance. The process begins with our dentist removing any decaying or cracked enamel. An impression is then taken of the tooth, ready to be sent off to the laboratory for the crown to be custom-made. Our crowns are constructed from highly durable and safe materials that match the colour of the patient’s teeth.
Once the crown is back from the lab, it is bonded in place to cover the visible part of the tooth (from the gum line and up). Patients can expect this entire procedure, from impression to bonding, to take just two visits to complete.
Fixed Bridges
Bridges are great for ‘bridging’ gaps created by one or more missing teeth. They use crowns to anchor the end of the bridge to two or more support teeth on either side of the gap. In the middle of these support crowns are at least one false (pontic) crown, filling the gap with what is made to look like a natural tooth.
